What makes GLQ different?
Our concert program will be played by memory, very few chamber music groups choose this kind of performance method. We prefer it because it allows us to communicate better, and it's a lot more fun for our audience!
Also, in Los Angeles, just about everyone is using strings for chamber music entertainment. Picking a saxophone quartet gives you volume control, saxophones play with more power to project outside, but they can also fit intimate, quiet moments as well.
What kind of saxophones do you play?
We play soprano saxophone (the one Kenny G uses), alto, tenor (the one Lisa Simpson plays), and baritone. There are bigger and smaller saxophones than this, but most quartet music is written for these 4 saxophones together.
Do you have any recordings of your playing I could watch?
Sure do! You can hear samples on our What We Play page.
How long do your performances last?
We're pretty versatile to fit needed time slots, but our typical program lasts about 1 hour.
How do you handle communication leading up to a performance and what is your cancellation policy?
Communication occurs via text, phone call, and email. Expect responses within 24 hours or less. We request an upfront booking payment or $100 or 10% of the performance rate, whichever is higher, in order to book a GLQ event. If you cancel, the booking payment is non-refundable. If we cancel, we refund everything.
